Other Problem Areas

Here are more common problems that clients seek therapy for at the Psychological Forum.

Crises: Minor crises can occur when a person feels stuck and feels that life has more to offer. Major emergencies can arise from losses and exposure to betrayal and abuse of various kinds.

Challenges, stagnation and desire for change: People experience different challenges at different ages. In young adulthood, some may have difficulties completing studies, finding their place in the labor market, or establishing relationships and creating their own family. At older ages, change may be desirable but challenging to achieve. Some people seek therapy because they feel that they are not moving forward but have stagnated, feel a lack of desire, and that they have forgotten themselves with work and family life. They want to discuss what has shaped their personality and life path to better choose a way forward. Therapy is then about changing the status quo and personal development.

Trauma and PTSD: Trauma can be described as a dramatic event that has an impact on health, life, and everyday life. There are different types of traumatic events, such as an accident, assaults, or loss. The prolonged stress of being a victim and/or witness to violence and conflict can also be a traumatic event. PTSD usually describes the reactions that can occur after trauma.
